Scrappage schemes

Scrappage schemes have been put in place by car manufacturers as a way to make more new car sales, and reduce the number of older vehicles on the road that are polluting the environment. Often, they will give you a reduction on buying a new vehicle if you opt to scrap your old one.

Last year Ford had a pretty impressive scrappage scheme, which as well as them being the biggest car manufacturer in the UK, explains why so many Fords were scrapped in the last year. Ford customers were offered a £2000 reduction, plus additional discounts for scrapping their old vehicle for a new one. If you had a ford Focus, you could have had a discount of up to £5000 for following their scrap scheme.

Which companies are still offering scrappage schemes?

Do not despair, Ford are not the only ones to have a scrappage scheme, many other car manufacturers have their own scrappage schemes to help you save money on a new vehicle. Here’s a list of the companies currently still offering their own scrappage schemes:

Ready to scrap your vehicle? If you are eligible for one of these schemes then it’s essential that you check with the cat manufacturer to make sure that the scheme is still running. If so, you could receive a good amount of money off a new car. However, if you are eligible then you can still have your vehicle scrapped and get some money back. Using Car.co.uk, they will give you an evaluation of how much you can get for scrapping your vehicle. From here, they will collect the vehicle, scrap it and send you all of the documentation to prove the vehicle has been scrapped.
